  FIND A PROBLEM :: DEVELOP A SOLUTION :: IMPLEMENT FOR SUCCESS When my family first moved to the area that is now known as San Tan Valley, AZ, there was a small hometown paper known as the Hot Spot Journal that was great for the small community that we were, but they closed their doors. By 2009, when the area became known as San Tan Valley, we had over 80,000 residents and no media source to help keep the community informed. Seeing a problem and being a person who enjoys developing solutions, I built SanTanValley.com. Over the years the site has grown from having a few thousand unique visitors per month to over 400,000 unique visitors viewing more than 8 million pages every month. We now have over 10,000 fans on facebook, a daily e-newsletter that goes out to over 7000 subscribers and daily real time text updates to our subscribers as well. At SanTanValley.com, I am the main developer for the site and oversee the social media channels. In addition I am also the main contact for visitors and residents needing assistance with anything about San Tan Valley, AZ, serving as a visitor's center and city hall. The system allows the ability to add business listings, classifieds, community events, news, community information, school details and more. We are always looking for businesses who would like to market themselves to the residents in and around San Tan Valley.   TAKING CARE OF BUSINESS I was asked to join the Board of Directors of the San Tan Area Chamber of Commerce in 2006 & remained on the Board until 2009. As a small new Chamber, the Chamber needed assistance with many issues including membership benefits, growth, retention & a general vision for the area & the Chamber. As a Board member I developed the membership benefits, a web presence, various committees & created annual events. We started developing a purpose & mission for the Chamber & together ideas were voted on & I was asked to develop the solutions & implement what was necessary to reach the goals. In 2009 I was elected as the Chairman Elect by the full membership, but in 2010 my position changed to that of the President & CEO. After spending the last 4 years bringing ideas to the Board, proposing solutions & implementing them, it was a common sense move. From Jan 2010 to May 2014, we moved from a small networking organization to a well branded Chamber of Commerce offering measureable and sought after benefits to its members. I developed relationships locally, regionally, statewide & federally. Membership grew year after year, even though we were hit with the worst recession in our area's time. We developed ordinances, engaged in economic development for our area, lobbied for legislation & became recognized as an innovative & productive business organization. While building the Chamber, it became more & more apparent that our community was in a place where it too needed help growing and finding its way. As a result, I made the decision to resign in May 2014, so that I could dedicate my time to the community at large as we move forward. I dedicated countless hours to the organization and am proud of our many accomplishments. The position of President & CEO was a volunteer position, which is unheard of in the Chamber industry, but the position needed to be filled by someone with the right skillset & willingness to commit. I was that person.
